Notice of a public meeting concerning a proposed amendment to the Zoning by-law of The Corporation of The Nation Municipality

TAKE NOTICE that Council of the Corporation of The Nation Municipality will hold a public meeting on April 1st, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at The Nation Town Hall, 958 Road 500 West, Casselman, to consider a proposed amendment to The Nation Municipality Zoning By-Law 2-2006 under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter p.13, as amended.

The Planning Department has received a complete application from the owner of the property described as Part of Lot 5, Concession 14, former South Plantagenet, now The Nation Municipality and bearing civic number 4402 County Rd. 10.

THE PROPOSED Zoning By-law would change the zoning category from ‘’Recreational Commercial Zone (CR)’’ and ‘’Agricultural Zone (A)’’ to ‘’Rural Zone – Exception (RU-X36)’’ and ‘’Rural Zone – Exception (RU-X37) for part of the property located on Part of Lot 5, Concession 14 in former South Plantagenet, now The Nation Municipality.

IF THE PROPOSED By-law amendment is adopted, an agricultural use (cultivation of cannabis) would be permitted on a parcel of land having 3 acres minimum, under zoning category ‘’Rural Zone – Exception (RU-X36)’’ and an agricultural use would be permitted on a parcel of land having a minimum of 20 acres under zoning category ‘’Rural Zone – Exception (RU-X37)’’.

IF A PERSON or public body would otherwise have the ability to appeal the decision of the Corporation of The Nation Municipality to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at the public meeting or make a written submission to the Corporation of The Nation Municipality before the By-law is passed; the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

IF A PERSON or public body does not make oral submission at the public meeting or make a written submission to the Corporation of The Nation Municipality before the By-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the local Planning Appeal Tribunal, unless in its opinion, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
