Prescott and Russell Transpo – the United Counties want to hear from you!
PRESCOTT AND RUSSELL – Wednesday, April 3, 2019 – The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) are pleased to announce the launch of an online survey to understand and evaluate the needs of future users of the region’s new intermunicipal transit service within the Counties. In addition, five public consultations are planned for early May. All citizens are invited to make their travel interests and habits known by filling out the online survey starting today!
Last February, the UCPR and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation announced $1.5 million in financial support over four years to create an intermunicipal transportation system in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. The online survey and consultations will be essential to properly plan routes, identify stops, establish schedules, and set fares.
Are you thinking of taking the Prescott and Russell Transpo to go grocery shopping? Go to the Doctor? Visit friends? Go to work? How much money are you willing to pay for a trip? Which villages do you plan to visit? What time will you travel? Would you use public transit to visit a tourist attraction or festival? Anyone interested in participating in the online survey can visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PRTranspoEn between April 3rd and May 10th. The survey only takes 5 to 7 minutes to fill out.
In addition, five bilingual public consultations are planned throughout the Counties. At these gatherings, United Counties representatives will present possible routes and consult with you on schedules, stops, and fares expected for the launch of the new Prescott and Russell Transpo service, starting in September. This will be an ideal opportunity to comment on the proposed routes.
The dates, places, and times of the consultations are as follows:
Tuesday, April 30th
36 Mill Street, 2nd floor
Wednesday, May 1st
205 Limoges Road
Thursday, May 2nd
220 Main Street
Wednesday, May 8th
1123 Labrosse Street
Thursday, May 9th
19 Lavigne Road
All consultations are held at the Community Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The new intermunicipal public transit system in Prescott and Russell will make it easier for thousands of residents to travel as early as next September. Your participation in the survey and consultations will allow the UCPR to provide an efficient service that will meet the travel needs of its population. We look forward to seeing you there!
