THE NATION MUNICIPALITY AND THE SOUTH NATION CONSERVATION DISTRIBUTED FREE POTTED TREES

THE NATION, April 29, 2019 — On Saturday, April 27, 2019, The Nation Municipality, in partnership with the South Nation Conservation, distributed free potted trees to The Nation residents as part of its Tree Giveaway event. The purpose of this event that was held at The Nation municipal office was to help protect and increase forest cover in the South Nation Conservation jurisdiction.

A variety of trees were available during this event. In total, about 80 trees and 200 seedlings were distributed by The Nation Municipal Council.

The South Nation Conservation donated 40 trees for this event, which represents a donation value of $500. As for The Nation Municipality, they provided 40 additional potted trees and 200 seedlings in order to allow for more residents to benefit from this great opportunity.

“We’re proud to be partnering with our member municipalities, including The Nation, to protect and restore the local environment.”—John Mesman, Team Lead of Communications and Outreach for the South Nation Conservation

“When we heard about the tree giveaways organized by the South Nation Conservation, we jumped on the occasion. It was the first time that we were organizing an event like this one and we were pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm of the residents. We certainly intend to repeat this event next year, with more trees to give away and two distribution centres—one in the west end and one in the east end of the municipality.”—François St-Amour, Mayor of The Nation Municipality
