About the Parks and Recreation Master Plan

The Nation Municipality is currently working with the consulting group PRC Solutions to develop a Parks and Recreation Master Plan. This master plan will provide guidance concerning the improvement, future development and management of parks, recreation and leisure services, programs, events, facilities and amenities, in a fiscally responsible and sustainable manner.

Project Timeline

June 13th, 2019: Individual consultations with staff and Council members.

June 22nd, 2019: Information booth at the Limoges Community Day (Rodolphe Latreille Park – 63 Des Bénévoles Street, Limoges, ON).

June 25th, 2019: Focus group with members from community groups in the eastern part of The Nation Municipality.

June 26th, 2019: Focus group with members from community groups in the western part of The Nation Municipality.

August 20th, 2019: Public Workshop in St-Isidore

August 21st, 2019: Public Workshop in St-Albert

August 2019: Online survey.

August 2019: Phone survey.

September 23rd, 2019: Presentation to Council.

Open House Events

As part of the planning process, the municipality is hosting a Parks and Recreation Master Plan Open House to share a preliminary strategic direction for the Master Plan.

The Open House is an opportunity to:

  • Hear a presentation on key research findings;
  • Provide your thoughts on the draft version, mission and principles for the Master Plan;
  • Share your ideas on the draft objectives and actions;
  • Identify your priorities for the future of parks and recreation in The Nation.

Two open houses will be held:

  • October 22nd, 2019: Fournier Community Centre (3210 County Road 9) from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (presentation at 6:45 p.m.). Please register online or by phone at 613-524-2522 before October 18th, 2019. Please note that the presentation will be in English. Therefore, we will provide headsets for simultaneous translation in French. To reserve your headset, please send an email to cscott@nationmun.ca.
  • October 23rd, 2019: Limoges Community Centre (205 Limoges Road) from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (presentation at 6:45 p.m.). November 2019: Preparation of the final plan

January 2020: Presentation to Council

Note: A budgetary envelope will be put in the 2020 Municipal Budget in prevision of the recommendations of the final Master Plan.
