JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Deputy Treasurer, the incumbent will be responsible for the full cycle for a large volume of accounts payable following established procedures as well as assisting the Deputy Treasurer with various monthly and year-end tasks.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts payable responsibilities:

  • Enter supplier invoices into the appropriate financial software;
  • Verify supplier invoices and ensure that prices are in accordance with the bids obtained;
  • Process all financial correspondence to receive approval from department heads with their coding;
  • Follow up on capital project invoices;
  • Reconcile on a monthly basis and follow up on supplier statements and communicate with them for follow-ups as required;
  • Prepare and make payments (cheques, EFT, PAP);
  • Make payments by exception according to a request following the procedure;
  • Prepare a report of invoices to be paid for the board and the department heads;
  • Perform accounting reports for fraud monitoring;
  • Balance payables with the general ledger;
  • Participate in the year-end file by assisting in the preparation of payable accruals;
  • Perform any other related duties

Other responsibilities:

  • Match bank disbursements to GL deposits;
  • Prepare journal entries for recurring deposits and disbursements;
  • Prepare summary of unreconciled transactions for the Deputy Treasurer;
  • Assist in the reconciliation of accounts payable;
  • Assist in preparing journal entries for year-end accruals;
  • Assist in the preparation of various reports for the Treasurer;
  • Miscellaneous filing;
  • Perform any other related duties.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Specific knowledge:

  • Bilingual (oral and written)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel;
  • Basic knowledge of word, Outlook and Power Point;
  • Knowledge of Asyst and the municipal environment, an asset.

Education:

College diploma in accounting or equivalent experience

Experience:

3 to 4 years of accounting experience

 

WORK CONDITIONS

Salary: $29.49 to $33.36

Department: Finance

Working Hours: 35 h / week

Work area: 958 route 500 West, Casselman, Ont

Job Status: Permanent

Start date: as soon as possible
