Join our teams of men and women who are dedicated to protecting their families, neighbours and fellow residents in The Nation Municipality!

We respond to a variety of calls, including but not limited to house fires, vehicle accidents/fires, carbon monoxide emergencies, medical emergencies and more.

Process

1. Attend the Information Session

Interested individuals, along with their spouse, are invited to an information session at the St-Isidore Fire Station on Tuesday, October 21st at 7 p.m.

This session is not required but recommended.

2. Application Submission

Applications must be submitted before Wednesday, October 29 at 4 p.m. to be considered for this recruitment period.

3. Written Test

Applicants who meet initial requirements will be invited to take a written test to assess knowledge and problem-solving skills.

4. CPAT Physical Ability Test

Candidates who pass the written test will move on to the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), designed to evaluate your fitness and readiness for the demands of firefighting.

5. Interview

Successful CPAT candidates will be invited for an interview, allowing us to learn more about you and your motivation to join the team.

6. Training and Certifications

No experience? That’s fine! We will train you to prepare you for an exciting and rewarding career!

Retained applicants will move on to the training phase, where they’ll gain the skills and certifications needed to serve their community:

  • First Responder (40 hours) – February
  • NFPA 1001 Level 1 Firefighter Course (110 hours) – April/May

Terms and Conditions of Employment

To be considered for a position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements and agree to the following conditions if hired:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Functionally bilingual in French and English
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license (G minimum; DZ preferred)
  • High school diploma (Grade 12)

Conditions if Hired:

  • Consent to undergo a medical examination
  • Provide reliable personal transportation
  • Participate in job-related physical fitness evaluations
  • Criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check
  • Complete mandatory fire training during the probationary period

Important: For safety reasons, beards or long facial hair are not permitted
