“As the mayor of this vibrant community, I am thrilled to express our gratitude to the Government of Canada for its generous funding towards our new state-of-the-art Sports Complex. This complex will serve as a hub for the development of our young athletes, as well as a gathering place for our community to come together. With this investment, we are able to provide our residents with a fully furnished and equipped facility that will not only promote physical activity but will also foster a sense of community pride. A versatile facility accessible to all
The Nation’s sports complex will allow for a variety of sports and community activities 12 months a year. The frameless steel structure will house two 2/3 size FIFA soccer fields with an artificial playing surface and a walking/running track encircling its perimeter. Another important feature of the sports complex is the multi-purpose room that can be used for a variety of private and public functions.
Located on a previously vacant property belonging to the École élémentaire catholique Saint-Viateur, The Nation’s Sports Complex is ideally situated near Highway 417 and major population centres such as Ottawa, Cornwall and Montreal. The state-of-the-art facility will host a variety of events year-round, such as youth soccer, seniors’ fitness, wedding receptions and trade shows that will attract more than 20,000 people annually.
In 2021, The Nation Municipality launched The Nation Gets in Shape, a $1-million fundraising campaign aimed at obtaining sports equipment, furniture and other resources needed for the Sports Complex.
