THE NATION, MAY 12TH, 2023 – The Nation Municipality’s Council is pleased to announce that it has received a non-repayable contribution of $750,000 from the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), to support the new Sports Complex in Limoges.

“As the mayor of this vibrant community, I am thrilled to express our gratitude to the Government of Canada for its generous funding towards our new state-of-the-art Sports Complex. This complex will serve as a hub for the development of our young athletes, as well as a gathering place for our community to come together. With this investment, we are able to provide our residents with a fully furnished and equipped facility that will not only promote physical activity but will also foster a sense of community pride. Thank you to the Government of Canada and FedDev Ontario for recognizing the importance of investing in our youth and our community’s well-being.” – Francis Brière, Mayor of The Nation Municipality

A versatile facility accessible to all
The Nation’s sports complex will allow for a variety of sports and community activities 12 months a year. The frameless steel structure will house two 2/3 size FIFA soccer fields with an artificial playing surface and a walking/running track encircling its perimeter. Another important feature of the sports complex is the multi-purpose room that can be used for a variety of private and public functions.

Located on a previously vacant property belonging to the École élémentaire catholique Saint-Viateur, The Nation’s Sports Complex is ideally situated near Highway 417 and major population centres such as Ottawa, Cornwall and Montreal. The state-of-the-art facility will host a variety of events year-round, such as youth soccer, seniors’ fitness, wedding receptions and trade shows that will attract more than 20,000 people annually.

In 2021, The Nation Municipality launched The Nation Gets in Shape, a $1-million fundraising campaign aimed at obtaining sports equipment, furniture and other resources needed for the Sports Complex.
