LIMOGES

Due to a water usage ban implemented by the City of Clarence-Rockland, a complete ban on external water usage is in effect for all residents of Limoges on the municipal water system. This water usage ban will be re-evaluated in the coming days, and a notice will be published when the ban is lifted.

Despite our efforts to maintain a stable water supply, occasional bans are necessary for the following reasons:

  • During extended periods of hot and dry weather, water demand can increase by up to 50%, largely due to outdoor water use. However, there are limits to the volume of water the Limoges system is allowed to draw from our well water source, and to the capacity of the water treatment and distribution system. When water levels drop, restrictions are essential to preserve the supply.
  • The water system of the City of Clarence-Rockland extends south from the Cheney water tower to the Limoges distribution system. Since we are still in Phase 1 of the project, we can currently draw only a limited amount of water per day from Clarence-Rockland. We are actively working to complete the next phases of our water system project. Although these improvements will increase our water supply and reduce the likelihood of future bans, it introduces a new consideration. As per our Water Joint agreement when a water usage ban is issued in the City of Clarence-Rockland a water ban is also to be implemented in The Nation municipality.

“External use of water” means the use of water for any purpose outside the walls of any building located at a municipal address (by-law 53-2021). We ask you to reduce your overall water consumption during the complete water ban.

An exemption permit is required for any resident needing water for newly installed lawns, grass seeds, or planted trees.

Please note that the splash pad in Limoges will remain closed.

We understand that water bans can be frustrating and inconvenient. Thank you for your cooperation and for sharing this information.
