Message from the Library Board

Wednesday March 26th, 2025

While we had hoped to welcome you back to our library branches on April 1, 2025, we require additional time to ensure a smooth and well-prepared reopening. The Board remains committed to finalizing policies and is making progress in recruiting an interim CEO to support this transition.

Need books in the meantime? Starting April 1st, visiting neighbouring libraries will be at the user’s expense; however, the municipality will reimburse membership fees for its residents. For more information on how to request a reimbursement and the eligibility criteria, please see the drop down below.

Residents can still visit the Casselman Public Library, which is free for everyone to access.

We understand that this extension may be disappointing, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. We remain committed to keeping you informed about the next steps. If you have any questions or comments to share with the board, please direct them to: admin@nationmun.ca.

Information for Residents

Questions & Answers

The libraries will officially close from January 1 to March 31, 2025, as directed by Council. However, due to holiday schedules (as established by the Library Board), all branches will be closed from December 24, 2024, to January 3, 2025, inclusive.

Effectively, the last day to access library services before the closure is Saturday, December 23, 2024.

Residents of The Nation Municipality can access library services in neighboring municipalities during this period. To make this transition as seamless as possible, the municipality will cover non-resident membership fees for its residents.

To avoid the refund process, we encourage residents to visit the Casselman Public Library, Clarence-Rockland Library branches, SDG Library Branches or Champlain Library. The Nation Municipality has partnered with these library boards, providing $1,500 in compensation to waive membership fees for our residents during the closure of our branches. This option ends on March 31, 2025.

Residents who choose to visit other libraries not covered by these agreements can access services and the municipality will refund non-resident membership fees. For more information on how to request a refund, see the drop down below.
