THE NATION, DECEMBER 15, 2022 – The Mayor and Council of The Nation Municipality are pleased to announce that a $250,000 pledge to The Nation Gets in Shape Campaign has been received from GFL Environmental.  Launched in 2021, The Nation gets in Shape is a $1 million Campaign to obtain sports equipment, furnishings, and other necessary resources for the new Sports Complex currently under construction in Limoges.

This facility will serve our community as a whole, and it is thanks to organisations like GFL that our complex will be fully furnished, equipped and ready to welcome its users.” said Mayor Francis Brière. “I thank GFL for being a leader in our community and look forward to welcoming other partners as we continue to raise funds.”

A versatile facility accessible to all

The Nation’s sports complex will allow for a variety of sports and community activities 12 months a year. The frameless steel structure will house two 2/3 size FIFA soccer fields with an artificial playing surface and a walking/running track encircling its perimeter. Another important feature of the sports complex is the multi-purpose room that can be used for a variety of private and public functions.

Located on a previously vacant lot adjacent to École élémentaire catholique Saint-Viateur, The Nation’s Sports Complex is ideally situated near Highway 417 and major population centers such as Ottawa, Cornwall and Montreal.  The state-of-the-art facility will host a variety of events year-round, such as youth soccer, seniors’ fitness, wedding receptions and trade shows that will attract more than 20,000 people annually.
