Traffic control devices—such as signs, signals, and pavement markings—are installed and maintained by the road authority to guide motorists on public roads. Road signs are inspected every 12 to 16 months to meet retro-reflectivity standards.
Only the Roads Department of Public Works may produce and install road signs, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act. Third-party signs are not permitted. All sign requests will be reviewed; specialized signs may be approved at the requestor’s expense. “Children at Play” signs are limited to school and park zones.
